Jeremias Dieck, Head of Sustainability at Cetro Medical.

In a world increasingly demanding eco-conscious practices, Cetro Medical is aiming to be one step ahead in the healthcare industry. Interviewing Jeremias Dieck, Head of Sustainability at Cetro Medical, we’ll be exploring the company’s sustainability journey, the challenges they want to overcome, and their vision for a greener future in healthcare.

”Our overarching sustainability strategy at Cetro Medical is deeply rooted in integrating environmental, social, and economic responsibility into all our operations. We’re committed to minimising the environmental footprint of our products throughout their entire lifecycle. Our goal is to become a frontrunner in sustainable single-use products in the near future, demonstrating how our solutions benefit both hospitals and society as a whole”, says Dieck.

”Sustainability is a central part of our supplier assessment”

Prioritising Certified Suppliers

To ensure Cetro’s products are both sustainable and environmentally friendly, the company has set clear environmental goals. Working closely with their suppliers, Cetro’s ambition is to achieve the highest level of sustainability across the entire supply chain.

”Sustainability is a central part of our supplier assessment and is included in our audits. A significant portion of Cetro’s environmental impact comes from transportation, so we mandate that all our logistics providers hold the ISO 14001 certification. Naturally, we encourage our suppliers to certify as well, and we prioritise those that do. We also scrutinise how they, in turn, monitor their sub-suppliers to reach as far down the chain as possible. Additionally, we require all our suppliers to sign our Code of Conduct, which is a cornerstone of our sustainability strategy.”

Cetro is closely monitoring the market for new materials, says Dieck.

Ambitious Plans Ahead

Looking ahead, Dieck and Cetro Medical have ambitious plans to expand and enhance the company’s sustainability initiatives. They’re aiming for long-term goals like carbon neutrality and zero waste in operations.

”One step in that direction is our ongoing efforts to seek product and material improvements, such as experimenting with biodegradable materials, although the results have yet to be satisfactory. To address this, Cetro is closely monitoring the market for new materials that could offer promising solutions for future product development.”

Dieck underlines that Cetro Medical will continue exploring new ways to improve the sustainability of their products and reduce their environmental impact. Moreover, the company plans to expand their partnerships with sustainability-focused organisations to strengthen sustainability efforts and integrate them more into the daily operations.

”We’ll also increase our transparency by implementing reports on every order confirmation, delivery note, and invoice, showcasing the emissions linked to the customer’s order. This will enable our customers to easily see the impact of the products and support their own sustainability initiatives.”
